7.62mm Lee-Enfield No.4 (L8 / Sterling Conversion) Low Shooting: An Experiment

It’s well-documented that the light-barrel L8 and Sterling 7.62mm (.308 Win) Lee-Enfield No.4 conversions shot low compared to .303″ to the point they couldn’t be zeored with the normal front sight set, and a lowered datum line rear sight was the solution. This is due to the difference in “jump” with the new cartridge. I wanted to see what would happen if we put some NATO ball and 303-approximate loads through my Sterling conversion and my L39 to see if it was simply the bullet weight and velocity doing it. What did we discover?
