Orman Patent Semi-Automatic Prototype Pistol

Benjamin Orman patented his self-loading pistol in Britain in 1912 (PAT 14,746), and in the U.S. (PAT 1,128,180) and Germany the following year.

A resident of Belvedere, Kent, Orman’s pistol is an aluminum cast, short recoil, rotating bolt pistol that utilizes an accelerator. A fascinating design about which little is known beyond what may be directly observed or read in the patent document.

For those fascinated by early semi-automatics, prototypes, rare arms, or those that never saw great success, Orman’s pistol represents a fantastic opportunity.
