The Evolution of the Hall Rifle, Part 2: Percussion

Not only does Austin’s latest video cover the tail end of the Hall rifle’s 20+ years of manufacture, but shows you some examples you’re not likely to see ever again outside of a museum. Did you know Hall rifles were the first percussion rifles adopted by ANY military? They’re also the first percussion breechloading firearm with that same distinction, AND the first to utilize a rod bayonet!

This comprehensive cataloguing of American long arms is courtesy of the George Moller Collection. No surprise to those familiar with Mr. Moller or his books, his collection was an exercise in archiving and sweeping meticulousness. Today, it allows us this unheard of opportunity to examine these Hall rifles side by side.
