Levergun? Scattergun? Why not both? Everyone who has watched Terminator 2 has seen this unsung John Moses Browning design in all its lever swingin’ glory.
The Winchester Model 1887 shotgun holds an interesting place in firearms history, as the company began to look beyond lever action rifles and the industry began its transition to smokeless powder.
While the Model 1887 shotgun was not the last Winchester lever action, nor their last blackpowder design, the writing was already on the wall for superior alternatives to assume their place. Not one to let a good design die, Winchester did release the Model 1901 shotgun, which was the smokeless powder counterpart to the Model 1887.
