Before the Bren Ten became a Miami Vice icon, before Sonny Crockett carried one on television, and before the 10mm Auto became one of America’s most recognizable handgun cartridges, there was a small California company attempting to build the ultimate fighting pistol.
That story is represented by two extraordinary Bren Tens offered in our August Premier: the first true-to-form Dornaus & Dixon production prototype, “PROTO-1,” and a remarkable “JUST FOR ME” Bren Ten personally built and used by a Dornaus & Dixon employee during the company’s brief existence.
The prototype captures the earliest development of the Bren Ten and its transition toward the 10mm Auto. The “JUST FOR ME” pistol offers something even more unusual — a personal time capsule from inside Dornaus & Dixon, complete with rare slide and barrel assemblies, accessories, parts, manuals, grips, and other artifacts from the company.
