The MAT 54 SB is a variation of the MAT 49/54, which was in turn the police model of the French MAT 49 submachine gun. Chambered for 9x19mm Parabellum, it uses MAT 49 magazines and most MAT-49 parts. However, the trigger mechanism has been changed to be semiautomatic only, and a fixed wooden stock fitted along with the standard short barrel. Only a very small number of these were made, probably less than 100. They were used by civilian companies like banks and cash transit companies that needed armed guards.
Many thanks to the French National Forensic Police Department for allowing me access to film this prototype example for you!

Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! http://shop.forgottenweapons.com

At Forgotten Weapons I think the most interesting guns out there are the most obscure ones. I try to search out experimental and prototype weapons and show you how they work, in addition to more conventional guns that you may not have heard of before. You’re much more likely to find a video on the Cei Rigotti or Webley-Fosbery here than an AR or Glock. So, do you want to learn about something new today? Then stick around!
