Battlefield Presentation Colts for a Crimean War General

French General Aimable-Jean-Jacques Pelissier was one of the most powerful French generals of the mid-19th century. When the French entered the Crimean War, they were still using single shot pistols, and with 309,000 French soldiers in the conflict, Samuel Colt smelled an opportunity.

Colt frequently made lavish presentations to those who could potentially influence government contracts, and General Pelissier certainly qualified.

This wonderful, deluxe, cased pair of factory engraved Colt Model 1851 London Navy revolvers come inscribed from “the inventor” to the French General who helped humiliate the Russians, weakening their empire for decades to come.
