A Gettysburg General’s Tiffany Sword & Colt Root Sell for…

A Medal of Honor recipient. A Civil War commander who lost his leg at Gettsyburg. A thief. A murderer. Major General Daniel Sickles remains today one of the most controversial figures of his era.

However one views Sickles today, his personal weapons remain prized objects for collectors. A gilt, silver-gripped sword by Collins & Co. was wonderfully embellished by none other than renowned American artisan Tiffany & Co. Sickles can be seen proudly wearing it in a period photograph.

The second is a fine cased, factory engraved Colt 1855 “Root” revolver presented to him by Colt, with checkered and monogrammed grips.
