Historic Flight Jackets from World War 2

Flight jackets are held in high regard for the legendary men who wore them. Airmen who risked life and limb in the cold and unforgiving skies saw numerous combat roles that aided the Allied victories in the European and Pacific theaters. Often painted by the men who wore them, each one tells a tale of the service and missions it saw.

Unfortunately, time can be unkind to both leather and paint, making surviving examples of these flight jackets rare. To have one in an auction is noteworthy, and to have more than half a dozen is a windfall.

In our December Premier Auction are several such flight jackets, not just the A-2, but other designs as well, all from the World War 2 era and each with a history as unique as the paintings and patches they bear.
