French 1833 Boarding Axe-Pistol

Starting life as a French 1833 Boarding Axe, this tool of naval warfare saw part of its handle hollowed out to install a barrel and flintlock. Perhaps a Victorian Era modification, the result is a grisly tool none-the-less.

Coming to us from the Wanenmacher Collection, the axe-pistol takes its design cues from other militaries who used them, such as the Swedes, Germans, and Poles. However one major difference makes this version perhaps as hazardous to the wielder as it is to its target.
