Indian Wars Items in RIAC’s December 2013 Premiere Auction

Director of Auction services Kevin Hogan says it best in this video when he states, “When it comes to firearms collectors, there is perhaps not a more studied, beloved, or romanticized time than the American Indian Wars… The allure of the Wild West, cowboys, Indians, cavalrymen, [and] outlaws” were all childhood staples for many collectors. This video shows two weapons that became an integral part of that period: the Colt Single Action of 1873 and the Springfield Trapdoor rifle & carbine. Details are even given on a Colt Model 1874 Gatling gun!

Featured in our December 2013 Premiere Firearms Auction are two of the finest collections ever before assembled of said weapons: the encyclopedic, early U.S. military rifle collection of Richard Branum and the selection of Colt Model 1873 Cavalry Single Actions of Richard Atkinson. Both collectors were true students of their passions.

Our December Auction will take place the 6th-8th, with our Preview Day held on Thursday, December 5th. Preview Day is a entire day set aside to let people inspect and handle any item in the auction. It’s a museum you can touch! Afterwards, we provide hot food, cold drinks, and plenty of gun talk with like-minded collectors. We welcome you to come to whatever days you can. We guarantee you’ll see more than one thing you want to take home!
