This extraordinary combination of art and history was given its moment in the sun at Rock Island Auction Company. The six piece garniture of Napoleon Bonaparte was presented to him in 1797 by the Directory of France for his military victories. He later used this very sword against the same Directory during the Coup of 18 Brumaire as he came to power as First Consul of France.
