It has been a long time in development, and I have reached the 99% complete stage – and it it naturally taking 95% of my time to finish. Part 2 looks at the mechanisms of the 12-Inch Howitzer from 1916. In particular the Buffer and recouperator absorbing the recoil, the hydraulic reservoir – this Howitzer was the first large gun equipped with a hydraulic ram. The rapid elevation mechanism allowed the gun to be lowered quickly for reloading without affecting the sights. This led into a review of the range tables for the various charges. Finally I will look briefly at three types of shell fuzes – Direct Action, Graze and Base fuze. Keep watching – and Buy Me a Coffee (or Tea) if you appreciate the preview. Rob

Hi, I’m Rob, otherwise known as VBBSMYT.
I create the animations on my iMac using Cinema 4D, which I find very intuitive, and allows me to add smoke and flames, and then send the model to my trusty Render farm.
I make my models as accurate as possible through reference books and particularly good drawings. You may have seen my animations of early torpedoes and machine guns on YouTube. I enjoy finding out how things work and it has been fascinating to track the development from the late Victorian period up to World War 1.
