Gastinne-Renette was one of 19th century Paris’ finest gunsmiths, seamlessly blending art and arm. Available to the public for the first time in over 57 years is one of his most opulent creations: this stunning cased pistol pair with full matching accoutrements. Made and first displayed in 1855 at the Exposition Universelle, they were also later displayed at the 1862 Great London Exposition.
French exhibition arms frequently take up residence in institutional collections, but this extraordinary cased pair is finally available to the public after over half a century.
