The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) Model 1918 was designed by John M Browning and prototypes were demonstrated in February 1917. Orders were placed in July 1917 with the guns manufactured by Colt, Winchester and Marlin-Rockwell. Delivery started in February 1918 and were shipped to France in June 1918. However, they were not used in combat until September of that year, some 48 days before the Armistice. BARs, with very little modification were used in WW2, Korea, and in the Vietnam war.
Hi, I’m Rob, otherwise known as VBBSMYT.
I create the animations on my iMac using Cinema 4D, which I find very intuitive, and allows me to add smoke and flames, and then send the model to my trusty Render farm.
I make my models as accurate as possible through reference books and particularly good drawings. You may have seen my animations of early torpedoes and machine guns on YouTube. I enjoy finding out how things work and it has been fascinating to track the development from the late Victorian period up to World War 1.
