The Browning M2 has been in service longer than any other US service weapon, save for the M1911. Since its conception by John Moses Browning, and accompanied by the .50 BMG cartridge, it has seen action in every major US military action since its adoption in 1922. Despite numerous attempts to replace the M2, it remains a service today thanks to its effectiveness, reliability, and ease of use.
Mounted into thousands of planes, it contributed greatly to Allied air dominance during WW2. Today it remains a larger than life machine gun, appealing to anyone with even a passing fancy in military history.
