The Attack on Pearl Harbor will always be “a date which will live in infamy.” The surprise attack by Imperial Japanese forces shocked the nation and temporarily set back the United States in their ability to fight in the Pacific theater.
This M1903 was present on December 7, 1941 aboard the USS California when she was struck by two torpedoes and a bomb. Flagship of the U.S. Battle Force, almost 100 of her officers and men were killed that day.
This M1903 from Rock Island Arsenal is a living artifact of one of the dark day that brought the United States into the World War 2.
