In fact, Soviet adoption of a semi-automatic rifle took several attempts before they finally landed on SVT-40, and even then the new platform wasn&#8217;t chosen to take over sniper rifle duties.<\/p>\n<p>An estimated 1.6 million were produced between 1940 and the end of World War 2. Despite that fact, they remain surprisingly elusive here in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>From the mind of F.V.
